To Travel is to Live! Art Journal page by Terri
Interestingly this art journal page actually started in a similar way to my scrapbook layout. I had leftover texture paste on my mat that I needed to use so I added it to a blank page in my Dina Wakley Journal through the Peartree Cutfiles Adventure stencil from the Treehouse Adventures kit. At this point I had no idea what I was going to do but I hate waste.
Once the texture paste was dry I added acrylic paint over the top and started to build layers. I didn’t want the stenciled word to get hidden so wiped off some of the paint from the letters with a babywipe. This brought them back to show through more of the white background.
I based this art journal page on the fab sketch by Lisa in this month’s zine. I started off by adding some of the leaf tissue paper from the Treehouse Adventures kit and 3 squares of paper or journalling cards. But they felt like they were just stuck on top of the page. Which they were, but I wanted them to be incorportated and look like they belonged on the page so added some more white acrylic paint around them, blending with my fingers.
I added an square from the cut apart sheet to the top paper square and again added more paint to blend. Once dry I added some orange and green tones with watercolour pencils. Then outlined and blended the squares with black pencil.
I added a few of the little die cut leaves from the kit to add small decoration and some black script stamped from my stash.
Finished off with splatters of black and gold paint over the squares. Then wrote a quote on the central patterned paper square. As this was a kit about adventure I wanted it to be about travel which are my biggest adventures.
Thanks for joining me on the blog today. Hope you’ve enjoyed this different project from me. I had lots of fun making it and a great stress relieving process.
Happy Crafting!
