It’s finally summer and I have lots of things I want to do this year !
Every year , we go on holiday with our Poppy in Wales where dogs are always welcome at the beach.
This year has been a bit different, and I am hoping to do lots of little trips.
I always make a holiday journal , but this year , I am going to make a summer journal and use it to document the little trips and adventures that we had.
Looking through my stash , I came across a project that I have started but never finished.
I remember creating the concertina journal using old LBC paper, with the idea of putting a signature in between.
I wanted to use the recent Lollipopbox club kit – Summer Stories in creating this mini journal.
Creating the Journal
The cover is created using old LBC papers.
I chose a blue and teal / green colour scheme with a bit of pink.
By overlapping the ends of the papers , you create a concertina effect and a pocket for some of the pages.
I used a border punch or circle punch to create the borders on some of the paper.
With a lighter or contrasting colour paper ( in this case pink) , I created a mini envelope and attached them to the front and back of the journal .
They can be used as pockets for stickers , embellishments , notes or mini journal cards.
There was an old stationery pad that I had with lined and dot grid on them . The paper quality was quite good , so I wanted to use them in my journal , I am hoping that It will be able to withstand some wet mediums when I do my journaling later.
I used a three hole pamphlet stitch to sew in my signatures.
Decorating the journal
I used the die cuts , cut apart washi sheet and the wash tape that was included in the kit to decorate some of the pages of the journal, and tucked the mini journal cards on the pockets.
For the front and back mini envelope covers , I have used the wordings from the kit description sheet and cut the journal card part of the mini Zine.
I then used a blank ink pen to draw the faux stitching and lines.
The paperclips came in handy too as there can be used to attach some bits and pieces in the journal.
I am now ready for the summer full of adventures and memories!
Mini journals are my absolute favourite as they are not too daunting to fill. Don’t forget to use the journal prompts from the zine to inspire you of things to journal about.
Have you made your summer journal yet ?
If you have , I would love to see it , please share it on the LBC Facebook group and let’s inspire each other.
Wishing you lots of sunny weather and a summer fun of memories and fun!
Lots of Crafty hugs and kisses…
Sheryll
