Let There Be Love
Who else is still suffering from the January Blues? I am – so I decided to give myself a little bit of a boost. As soon as I unboxed this kit, I knew what I wanted to create! I wanted to make an art piece, something that I could have on the wall of my craft room amongst my Polaroid photos, gig tickets and good memories. I wanted a reminder to love myself and put myself first. January / February for me is all about self-care. So much so I have just booked myself a little weekend away in the middle of nowhere where I can drink wine and read books now I have finished most of my bits and bobs for the month!
Self-care and self-preservation are so important, and as a people-pleaser, I often put other’s needs before my own and do a lot to make them happy whilst unintentionally neglecting myself. This is just a small reminder for me on the daily to look after myself. Remember my December kit blog post? Promising myself to give myself more time. Well here is another reminder for both myself and you guys!
Love Letters Kit:
I used the kit papers for the background: the heart print as the base, then tearing up the red piece at the edges to create depth. I added a doily from my own stash, followed by the cut-apart sheet to add more layers and texture. Again this month there are no shortage of stickers and diecuts to use for decoration – just how I like it! I didn’t use any of the valentines/happy mail themed stickers or die cuts on this piece as I was focussing on the self-love / self-care, instead, although I am looking forward to putting those to use elsewhere in my journal soon!
I then changed my mind with the stickers as you can see! It was at this point I changed my mind totally and wanted to stick this in my weekly journal documenting how I am feeling at the moment. I think I will use my original idea and make a second spread from the remaining bits of kit to stick on my wall!
I used the pre-made envelope to hide a message to myself and how I am feeling right now – then I can look back on it in a few months to see how far I have come.
I changed my mind with the sticker as the focus after I had finished, and took off the silver foiled sticker to create the final piece with the separate word stickers stating ‘look after yourself first’ as I found a sticker book I had forgotten about (classic hoarder) plus you can’t pour from an empty cup! I then decided to stick it in my journal instead! I so I may go back and make a second similar using the original sticker to use as a wall art. This creative project took me less than 30 minutes, so if it’s a quick creative fix you want along with some self-care – write yourself a letter – tell yourself you are strong and you will get through this. Future you will love it.
Let me know what you think to my promoting positivity piece for my wall! Has anyone done anything similar? I would love to see your makes over on the Lollipop Box Club Facebook Chat Group!
