Recipe Cards with Guest Designer Terri

.

I’ve had a great time Guest Designing with this month’s box and Lisa’s video about keeping recipes really stood out to me. I had a little notebook that wasn’t really fit for purpose and it didn’t capture anything other than the recipe. So I repurposed an old Webster’s Pages A5 planner that I had used as a diary for a year but found it to be too chunky.  I absolutely love the idea of adding in the little stories attached to the recipes in the folder.

I used a piece of white cardstock and also a piece of the pink paper from this month’s box as my base, holes punched with a crop-o-dile. As with my scrapbook layout I added co-ordinating Distress Ink (Spun Sugar and Tumbled Glass) to the background through the Bramble Fox stencil from the Alice’s Tea Party box. I kept it quite subtle as I wanted it to be a background element not a focal aspect.

The recipe itself was printed on to thin card so I could use a small font. This gave me space on the pages to layer up and add embellishment.

For my Courgette Cake Card:

I added a piece of gingham patterned paper which I stitched round for added detail. The recipe was matted on to the floral patterned paper from the box. I added a photo of the completed recipe that I made at the start of lockdown. I added some alphabet stickers from my stash as the title. Finished off with the heart stickers, Nuvo drops and fussy cut lollipops from the cupcake paper.

For my Nan’s Victoria Sandwich Card:

The main detail of this recipe card is the Poppekins paper that was in the Alice’s Tea Party box. I stuck it to the pink patterned paper and then hand stitched round the cloud shapes using white thread to add texture. The recipe was matted on to blue gingham paper and then layered on top with a photo of my Mum’s birthday cake. I hand wrote the title in to one of the clouds. Then finished off the card with a few stickers, Nuvo drops and fussy cut elements from the cupcake paper.
