‘My World’ Mini Book with video – by Monique
Hello Lollipop Friends!
I’m delighted to be back, Guest Designing, with this month’s lovely ‘My Small World’ kit! As soon as I saw this kit, I just knew I wanted to create a little mini book documenting the day my twins were born. I started with one sheet of A4 card, and with a little measuring, cutting and folding, a sweet mini book (including a few handy pockets) was made. You can take a closer look at how I created my mini book foundation in my process video.
Once my foundation was created, I got stuck into covering each page with pretty paper from the kit. The treat bag this month includes the prettiest little fabric swatch which was perfect cut up and used as ties for my book. I sandwiched a strip inside the front cover, and another for the back. To secure the ties in place (and for extra texture and decoration), I stitched around the edges of each page. Just be careful not to stitch any of your pockets closed!
With each page dressed with pretty paper, I got started on sticking in my photos. I opted for a mix of colour and black and white photos, backing them with patterned paper and even used some packaging from the kit. I made use if lots of stickers from the kit sticker sheet to add extra details, and especially loved using the tiny alphas to add in a few of my own words and phrases. One of the patterned papers is made up of a variety of strips, some with little phrases, which were just perfect cut up and added to my photos. The sweet ephemera pieces added the perfect finishing touches to the pages. Take a look at my process video for a peek at the little tags I made to tuck into rhe pocket pages.
Last, but not least, I used strips of the various kit papers, rolled up tightly around a piece of twine to create pretty paper beads. I then tied these around the centre of my mini book as a cute accessory. They really were the perfect finishing touch.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I really hope you feel inspired to get creating with the beautiful May Kit too.
This is adorable! Love the sweet stitching!
Thank you so much Alease! I’m so happy you like it.
