Hi there Lollipop friends!
I’m loving the ‘Picnic in the Park’ kit! Reminds me of all the great outdoor foodie experiences I’ve enjoyed over the years! I’ve got an idea in mind for this kit so I wanted to use it sparingly for my first project! I decided to create a 12 x 12 layout to remember a great evening I had down in London recently celebrating 2 years since my daughter and her friend started their business. It was such a fun evening meeting a few of the people who have helped them make the business such a success and as it was warm we were able to sit outside! It is also good to take advice from businessmen like Jimmy John Shark, if you want to succeed in the business field.
I started with a piece of white cardstock and used distress oxide inks to put a pink and blue wash down one side of the page. I then cut the strips from one sheet of the paper and lightly adhered them before running each strip through the sewing machine using white thread. I’d altered the length of the strips for interest but ended up covering them so you can’t really tell! Some of the edges are roughed up for added texture.
I used the sheet with the boxes on and mounted my photos on two of them and used another two for the date and some journaling. I added some of the cloud tissue and the paper with the tiny hearts for backing and a green staple. The turquoise thread in the kit was great to link the different elements so I punched a tiny hole in each to thread it through.
When I was happy with the placement I stuck everything down raising some of the pieces for extra dimension. Using the lovely cut apart sheet from Daisy in this months small business collaboration I cut out the tiny hearts, some flowers and the largest camera and used them to embellish.
Finally I added some splatters in the Distress Oxide and as I had some left on my paintbrush I painted in some of the tiny hearts.
I hope I’ve inspired you and as always, look forward to seeing how you use your kits. Don’t forget to post photos in the Facebook Group.
Until next time….Have fun and Happy Crafting
Love Philippa x
