Collect Memories – with Guest Designer Terri

Hi there, Terri here with my second project as Guest Designer for this Month’s Alice’s Tea Party Box. Following on from my previous layout this documents more fun from our Stay at Home Afternoon Tea.

I was inspired by a project in the little creative zine where Lisa has dyed the string from the tag using coffee. I thought that was a great idea but wanted it to be coloured rather than tea stained. So I used my trusty Distress Inks, again in Spun Sugar to colour both my tag and string. I used a blending tool to add ink to the edges of the tag so it colour co-ordinated with the pink and white cloud paper.

.

To colour the string I pressed the distress ink pad directly on to a craft sheet and spritzed with a little water. I added the string to the little coloured puddle and allowed it to soak up the colour. I repeated this until I was happy with the depth of colour.

The papers in the kit are A5 in size but I wanted to stretch them to give the illusion of longer pieces. In order to do that I cut strips of paper all the same width and stuck them to my cardstock. I added light pink machine stitching down the whole length of each strip. The placement of the photo matt and embellishment have been specifically chosen to help cover the joins in the papers.

The photos  were matted on to the heart patterned tissue paper. I cut fishtails in the sticker strip to create banners to tuck under the photos and on top of the tag and envelope embellishment cluster.

The design feature for this page is for it all to be on a diagonal line with three main clusters of embellishment from top left to bottom right as this draws the eye across the page. I love fussy cutting so I cut out cupcakes from the patterned paper and also the drink me teacup from the circular sticker for extra small detail. One of the things I really like to add to my layouts is small confetti type embellishment which I have done in the three areas on the diagonal.

.

I finished off the page with splatters of gold mist and Bramble Fox perspextives for a title and heart embellishments. I’ve not really journalled on either of my layouts as they are pretty self explanatory.

Thanks for joining me on the blog today. I’ve loved Guest Designing with the Alice’s Tea Party Box.

Happy Crafting!
