ATCs better known as Artist trading cards , are  small works of art that you can send and swap with people around the world.

They could be made just simply using watercolors , drawing on them or even using mixed media.

They could be created with themes and it is interesting how other people interpret and create them.

I have created and swapped ATCs before.  It felt so nostalgic and thought I create some again using the recent a Spoonful sugar kit.

Creating the base cards

I used a mixed media paper as my base, and used my brush ink  powders to create the background.

A little of this powder goes a long way.  It is so pigmented and can easily be activated by water.

You can wait for the ink to dry or you can use a heat tool to dry it quickly.

Remember to have a paper towel handy as this could be messy.

The powders can stain your fingers whilst working on the your ATCs.

I then cut the paper into 2.5 inches  x3.5 inches cards. This is the standard size of Artist trading cards.

Adding layers and decorations

There were doilies in the kit , so I used them as another layer on the base cards.   They provide a lovely texture in the background and also tone down the bright background colours.

I used a standard glue stick to stick them down.

I then used the cut apart card , cut apart washi and stickers to decorate my ATCs.   This is the fun part of the process for me.

Because I am using a kit, I already have a theme so it was easy to keep my ATCs consistent.

To add the finishing touches, I used my black ink pen and gold paint pen for doodling and mark making.

I managed to create 9 ATCs from 1 piece of mixed media paper.

I love how they turned out and they would be lovely additions to my collection or simply use them in my journal layouts.

What do you think?

Will you have a go at. trying this project?   I would love to see it in the group.

How would you use them ?

Till next time my lovely friends!

Lots of crafty hugs,

Sheryll
