I recently found a printed photo of me and our dog Poppy when she was just a Puppy.

I never would’ve thought how much she has changed our lives in so many ways.

The January “You and Me” kit is just perfect to use for what I have in mind.

Recently , I watched a YouTube video from Lets Make art creating watercolour hearts from paint splatters.

I thought that it would be good to recreate this and use it for as background on my journal page.

The pattern is created by splattering different colours on watercolour paper and using clean water,  spread the colours to create her shapes.

Initially I used inks – this didn’t work and  I wasn’t able to create those hearts.  The ink was absorbed into the paper as soon as it hit the paper!

I then tried it with watercolours and although it worked well, I didn’t like the outcome when I used the gold paint pen around the hearts.  The line around the hearts was so thick .  It didn’t look right!

On my last attempt , I used the same technique but this time , I used a gold gel pen.  I loved the results. The lines around the hearts was thinner and showcased the hearts more.  Th only thing I’ll do next time is to use more bold and bright colours.

Once I have achieved my desired background , I cut this to size so that I can use this in my journal page.

I then used one of the papers from the kit and tore it in half as I would like my page to have a bit of texture.

Yes , I did end up covering some of the background I made , but I am okay with that.

The watercolours painted on the other side of the page complemented what I have just created.   I plan to journal on this page later.

I backed the photograph with one of the kit papers and used stickers and one of the images from the cut apart card.

Once I am happy with the embellishments on my pages , I did my journaling.

I journaled about the things that Poppy has given us.  The laughter , the memories , the unconditional love.  I have also talked about how she has changed our lives .  This page has been a lovely homage to our dog Poppy who will forever be in our hearts,

I hope you like this age as much as I do .

Until net time by dear friends.

Lots of crafty Hugs , Sheryll
