Autumn is well and truly here!

When I sat down to create in my journal , I came across a photograph of Poppy ( on one of our autumn walks)  that I have taken around 2 years ago.

I love seeing her happy face.   She just brings me so much warmth and joy just seeing her happy face.

The colours on the  September kit Stories not Stuff is perfect to bring that happy autumnal vibes on to  my page.

I didn’t have much paper to play with after my last page using the kit .

So I wanted to try something different.

I have seen a lot of patchwork journal cards using tiny bits of paper to create a beautiful journal card,  so I had to give it a go.

Creating the Patchwork

It all starts by cutting the left over paper into little squares.   You can either free hand this and have uneven edges or if you want perfect edges , you can measure and cut.

I have cut my squares into 1 1/4 inch squares.   You can make the squares bigger or smaller  – it is entirely up to you size wise.

The orange paper bag is a lovely addition to my cut up squares.   I think they will bring that extra pop of colour to my journal cards.

Oh , before I forget, you will also need a card stock to put your patchwork into.   I chose white card stock , but you can use any colour.   A black cardstock would be good too and you can write at the back with white pen.  What do you think?

I then arranged the squares on to the card stock like patchwork, and left a little gap between them .   You can also put them together side by side and not leave any space between them. I made sure that I don’t put similar squares side by side.

The washi strip paper was also handy to put in between the rows of squares.

When I was happy with my patchwork , I then cut my cards to size.   I made a 4x 5 1/2 size and an a bigger one measuring 5 x 8 inches.

Putting the finishing touches

As usual I used some of the stickers  and cut apart card to embellish the cards .   I also used some of the word stickers that is included in the kit.

I thought that there was something missing…

So, I used a blank ink to write some faux stitching , doodle borders on the some of the squares.   I think it just made a difference to the overall appearance of the journal .  What do you think?

So here’s how I used one of the cards on my journal page.  I will also use the rest for other journal layouts, or just something to write messages for my happy mail.

I just love how cheerful this page is and how it reflected Poppy’s smile .

Do you have happy autumn memories ?  How do you document them?

I hope you liked what I have shared and this inspires you to create you auntie happy page too.

Till the next blog!

Lots of craft hugs ,
