Hello! Today’s blog is a bit different as I am not using the latest kit.
However, I am using scraps from previous kit as I seem to be accumulating them!
I thought of making snippet roll this time as I can use ” snippets ” in my journal layout as borders , use the as belly bands, or just simply as decorative pieces for tags , cards and journal cards.
What is a snippet roll I hear ? A snippet roll is a long strip of paper or fabric that is embellished with lots of little scraps.
So let’s gather up all our scraps!
Creating the Base
As a base for the snippet roll , I used old post office receipts.
Yes, I seem to have accumulated some!
I have glued the receipts end to end to make a long stop of paper.
As the receipt is wide , I have cut them down to a width of 2.5 inches. I just feel that this is the right width for this project.
You can make your strip wider if you prefer.
I used strips of the paper to make a collage on the strip of paper to create my background.
I wasn’t even thinking of any theme or colour scheme and just glued the paper that feels right for me .
The excess scraps from the side of the strip will be glued again on another space.
You will end up with a lovely strip with lots of colours .
Decorating the Strip
I firstly used left over from the cut apart card embellishment.
As the card was thick for this Project , I have carefully removed some of the layers before gluing it in position.
I have placed them where it looks right and didn’t worry if they didn’t belong on the same kit.
The mix of colours still worked.
Next I added left over stickers and placed them wherever it looks right.
Have you noticed that I haven’t been worrying about any colour scheme and themes?
I don’t overthink things as they do put more pressure on me and that blocks my creativity.
The finished strip / roll
I have ended up with a beautiful strip that I can use to decorate my journal.
I love the mix of colours and the fact that I have created this with lots of scarps from previous kit.
Let me know how you would use this strip and inspire me with some ideas.
Will you create one yourself ? How would you use it?
I hope this project has inspired you to create something out of your kit scraps and please do share it in the Lollipop box club Facebook group.
Have an awesome creative week !
Lots of crafty hugs ,
Sheryll
